Welcome to The Louisville Astronomical Society!
LAS is an organization of individuals interested in various facets of Astronomy. Membership benefits include the club’s periodical, STARWORD; club rates on Astronomy books when available; and use of our non-public dark sky observing site in southern Indiana.
Membership Dues for the Louisville Astronomical Society:
Family ($35), Single ($30), and Student/Senior ($20).
Observations are being held at the LAS Observing Site in southern Indiana. Observations are normally held on the closest weekends to the New Moon and many are open to the General Public. The current viewing conditions can be found on the Satellite Map of Louisville.
Meetings are held on U of L’s Belknap Campus in Strickler Hall (behind the Gheens Science Hall & Rauch Planetarium), generally the first Friday of the month. Meetings normally start around 8 PM.
The club’s rental telescopes are currently being repaired and are not available at this time.
Currently LAS is promoting astronomy in the community through periodic programs at the Louisville Free Public Library, Scouting Merit Badge Programs, club public and school observations/programs, and establishing a public observatory for the Kentuckiana area.
