FIELD TRIP - Early Meeting 7PM - Please read

Monthly general meeting of the Louisville Astronomical Society.

Topics

Our next General Meeting will be unique. On June 17, we are going on a Field Trip to the U of L Walter Lee Moore Observatory in Brownsboro, KY where Dr. John Kielkopf, a lifetime member of the LAS, will host us for a tour of the facilities. The observatory is named after Dr. Walter Lee Moore who founded the LAS in 1933.

Anybody who wants to carpool, we will meet at the Urban Astronomy Center at 7:00 PM and return around 10:00 PM.

If you go directly to the observatory, please arrive by 7:30.

Special note from Ken Alderson:

If you get lost, call me at 939-0324 or John at 852-5990.

John tells me that the road is in great shape but to be cautious of the fact that it is a single car wide and thus is one way in and one way out. There is a small parking area near the observatory at the end of the road. Please arrive no later than 8:30 so we can come out one way with our cars.

John will have water for us and there is a restroom in the building.

It would be best to meet at the UAC and carpool.

Celebrate history! Celebrate the LAS!

Directions:

9396 Old Zaring Road. Take I-71 East to Highway 329 Exit 14. Turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto Highway 329. Turn left onto Old Zaring Road in Brownsboro, KY. Go through the rock quarry and through the gate to the Observatory Property. Park on the left before you get to the property.
