The Louisville Astronomical Society provides you with everything needed for your scouts to complete their Astronomy Belt Loop, Academic Pin or Merit Badge.

We offer this program at our Urban Astronomy Center at E.P. β€œTom” Sawyer Park in Louisville and at our dark site in Curby,Indiana near Marnego Cave and Cave Country Canoes for caving and canoeing by day, astronomy and camping at night! Both locations have camping, trails, restrooms, kitchens and classrooms plus an assortment of telescopes for viewing the night sky.

There is a $5.00 donation requested for each scout for classroom only and a $10.00 donation for classroom and camping. You can camp one or two nights for the same price. In case of need, scholarships from the LAS are available. Scout Leaders and siblings are free.

Cub Scout program takes 90 minutes classroom for the Belt Loop and Merit Pin. Boy Scouts Merit Badges require about two hours. We have Power Point presentations and large screen projection for both programs. Afterwards, scouts will get the chance to view the planets and the stars through scopes up to 16” in size.

Feel free to contact LAS president Ken Alderson at Megacoach @aol.com or call him at (502) 939-0324.
